Taper's notes : I positioned myself underneath one of the speaker stacks that was alongside the sound and lighting tower in the venue.
Not my finest moment when taping, which is why its taken me a while to bother to get round to releasing it. Theres some phasing at times due to the weather and even though I had the same spot all day none of the bands lower on the bill turned out as good as the Kiss headline set I got. I'm not sure if that was down to the bad weather or the FOH sound. Listening back to this show and the mix is all over the place, very Nikki heavy in places and not in others and I'd say generally its got a muddy sound to the mix. At the time of buying tickets this was their final UK appearance, although they subsequently announced some arena shows later in the year and I suppose it was quite an occasion as this was their final ever Download Festival appearance (for now anyway).
The final track took people by surprise, its seemed as though they were done and leaving and indeed the croad started to drift away, all of a sudden the piano intro started and everyone had to stop and come back. Theres some rustling on the mics at this point as I uncover them.
