BIOGRAPHY IN ENGLISH
I'm Chris from France and I was born on 1972.
I started to hear metal music on 1984 with Van Halen by a friend called "Jean-Yves".
He copied me 2 tapes with a lot of metal tracks of these bands : Twisted Sister, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Foreigner ... and offered me 2 LPs : Metallica " Ride the Lightning" and the first Ratt E.P..
On 1988, I bought my first disc : Metallica "... And Justice for All" 2LP
On 1989, I was on vacation in Spain and I have seen a report about W.A.S.P. with interviews and videoclips on a spanish channel TV and W.A.S.P. that changed my life. It's my favorite band since this date !
Back in France, I bought this LP on "Nuggets", a record store, in a big mall called "Parly 2" next to Paris. It was the beginning of a passion about this band and metal in general.
On school, I meet 2 guys called Sylvain T. & Laurent T. who lend a lot metal tapes and I discovered Iron Maiden, Helloween, Megadeth, Slayer, Testament, Kreator, Warlock, Anthrax, etc ...
On college, I created my ID : "chmetal" from "ch" (Chris) and "metal" (My favorite music)
On 1992, It was my first show : Iron Maiden & Warrant at Grande Halle de la Villette, Paris, France, September 9th. It was not really a great show, I prefered Iron Maiden show on Printemps de Bourges Festival, Bourges, France on 25/04/1993.
I started a big disc collection about W.A.S.P. (CDs, LPs, 12", 7" ...) and I was vice-president, secretary and treasurer on the french European fan-club called W.A.S.P. Warriors during 10 years (1993-2002).
On 1997, I realized one of my dreams : meet W.A.S.P. ! I met the band at Divan du Monde, Paris, France on February 2nd, after the show on backstage : Backie Lawless (vocals), Chris Holmes (Lead Guitar), Mike Duda (Bass Guitar) and Stet Howland (Drums). Thank you for Thomas Inglebert, the president of the fan-club to give the pass.
Since this date, I have seen the band several times all over Europe ... and in Las Vegas on 2008 !!
On 2003, I started to trade bootlegs and created my website. I added artworks, discography and tour dates of each bands later.
On 2004, I met my wife during a W.A.S.P. show at Hof Ter Lo Antwerp, Belgium on November 7th !
On 2011, I'm an admin on a big international webzine : www.spirit-of-metal.com.
BIOGRAPHY IN FRENCH
J'ai connu le métal en 1984 grâce à un pote, Jean-Yves, qui m'avait fait 2 cassettes audio remplies de titres de Twisted Sister, Bon Jovi, Van Halen ... Il m'a même offert 2 vinyles : Ride the Lightning de Metallica et le 1er EP de Ratt (excusez du peu !)
Depuis, c'est une vraie passion qui s'est développée.
En 1988, j'ai acheté mon premier disque : le double vinyle de Metallica "... And Justice for All".
En 1989, en vacances en Espagne, j'ai vu en pleine après midi un reportage à la télé espagnole sur W.A.S.P. avec des clips, et là, ça a été le coup de foudre pour la bande à Blackie Lawless !
Après mon retour en France, j'ai acheté l'album vinyle "The Headless Children" dans le magasin "Nuggets" dans le centre commercial Parly 2, dans la banlieue de Paris. Ce fut le début d'une véritable passion pour ce groupe, et pour le métal en général.
J'ai commencé une méga collection sur W.A.S.P. , et je suis même rentré en tant que vice-président, trésorier et secrétaire du fan-club en France appelé "W.A.S.P. WARRIORS", pendant 10 ans (le fan-club a cessé en 2002). A ce titre, j'ai rencontré Blackie Lawless et ses acolytes plusieurs fois en backstage, un rêve devenu réalité ! Je suis le groupe naturellement en tournée partout en Europe, voire même aux Etats-Unis en 2008 !
Au lycée, j'ai crée mon pseudo "chmetal" de "ch" pour Christophe et "metal" pour ma musique favorite !
En 1992, ce fut mon premier concert : Iron Maiden & Warrant à la Grande Halle de la Villette à Paris le 05/09. Pas un bon souvenir ... mais rectifié le 25/04/1993 lors du passage d'Iron Maiden avec Loudblast et The Almighty au Printemps de Bourges !
Depuis, j'ai vu environ 200 concerts à ce jour.
En 2003, j'ai commencé à me spécialiser dans les bootlegs en créant ce site web pour faire des échanges avec tous les passionnés au niveau international. Au fil du temps, j'ai enrichi mon site en mettant toutes les dates de tournées des principaux groupes de métal, ainsi que leur discographie.
En 2004, j'ai rencontré ma chérie lors d'un concert de W.A.S.P. à l'Hof Ter Lo, Anvers, Belgique le 07/11 !
Enfin, début 2011, je suis rentré dans l'équipe d'administrateur de Spirit of Metal (www.spirit-of-metal.com), un gros webzine international, pour la validation des groupes, albums et lieux métal.
