Taper's notes: This was my first show with new mics, and the vocals occasionally clip. The levels looked good initially, but I'll know what to adjust for next time. The sound up close was phenomenal--crystal clear vocals, crunchy guitar, and the beauty of Alex's live sound--it was all there. The night before, I sold my two tickets on StubHub and used that money to buy this seat. I've never been so close to these guys before, and it took me a few songs in to really comprehend it all. Less than twenty feet away there they were--the David Lee Roth I'd seen and heard on recordings since I was a teenager. The smiles of Ed. Alex's self-proclaimed fish-face when play. It was the first time I was able to see it up close, and the $150 was worth it. Dave's vocal performance is spotty at best, but the energy is there. Alex was a rock per usual. I thought Ed was a little off, certainly in comparison to other shows I've heard. Wolf was great and really provided that spark of life for Ed throughout the night. It's a shame they cut "In a Simple Rhyme" because I was really looking forward to that. I don't know if it was planned or was just decided throughout the show. I did notice Dave and Ed having what looked like a serious conversation, though only for a few seconds. Maybe that was discussing the set.
